Prince George Citizen -- Oil trains too risky

by Nikki SkucePrince George Citizen
February 17th, 2011

This Letter to the Editor by our Sr. Energy Campaigner, Nikki Skuce, appeared in the Prince George Citizen:

CN’s recent derailment of 36 coal cars near Fort Fraser is another reminder why there should be no “pipeline on rails.”

Imagine if the crash happened with a train full of tar sands. Imagine if that spill occurred into the Fraser or Skeena Rivers.

Unfortunately CN’s track record is too often off the rails.

Enbridge and CN need to realize that no matter what form their proposal comes in, their projects will be met with strong opposition who will do what it takes to prevent them from going through.

The risks are just too great.
