Wild Salmon Paradise
In a remote corner of British Columbia lies the Sacred Headwaters, the shared birthplace of the Skeena, Nass and Stikine, three of North America’s greatest wild salmon rivers. This vast alpine landscape, territory of the Tahltan First Nation, is also home to rich populations of grizzly bears, caribou and stone sheep, and is imminently threatened by Royal Dutch Shell’s proposed coalbed methane drilling.
Shell's Proposal
• To drill thousands of coalbed methane wells that would threaten three of Canada's most critical salmon rivers. • To build more than 3,000 kilometres of reads and pipelines that would fragment important bear moose and caribou habitat. • To bypass local decision-making and ignore cultural traditions that have lasted more than a millenia. |
